2025 Plenaries

Plenary:  a meeting at which all the attendants of the retreat gather together to hear the speaker.

I

Education is an Atmosphere

Plenary Presented by Donna-Jean Breckenridge

Charlotte Mason described education as “an atmosphere, a discipline, and a life.” Donna-Jean Breckenridge talks about the natural home atmosphere and how this educational instrument creates the environment for your child’s learning, even in difficult circumstances.

II

Education is a Discipline

Plenary Presented by Donna-Jean Breckenridge

In describing this second educational instrument, Donna-Jean expands on the role of habit – its importance, how it can be achieved, and its effect on the child’s entire education.

III

Education is a Life

Plenary Presented by Donna-Jean Breckenridge

Charlotte Mason said, “The mind feeds on ideas, therefore children should have a generous curriculum.” For an understanding of this third educational instrument, Donna-Jean talks about spreading the feast of living books, and how that nourishes a child throughout their education at home and beyond.

IV

Safe to Trust

Plenary Presented by Donna-Jean Breckenridge

A homeschooling mom – or grandmom – has a vital and, at times, daunting responsibility to live the life of Christ before her family. Donna-Jean shares her testimony of how God has remained faithful and safe to trust despite trials and sorrows, and she gives some strategies for finding the joy of the Lord as your strength.
